Why is it advised to only charge the battery to 80% for an EV?

There is no issue with damaging the battery of your EV if you charge it past 80%. However, there are limiting returns as past 80% a rapid charger will charge significantly slower past this figure. This is to save on energy for the station and free up space for other drivers to use the charger.
